Vision & Mission
The objects of the GAST are to provide a forum for German-speaking academics in the Greater Toronto Area to present and discuss topics related to their fields of expertise. Furthermore, the GAST aims to provide a networking platform for its members and interested academics as a means of encouraging the exchange of expertise.
Our Story
The GAST was inaugurated in 2019 and originated from the “Deutscher Akademischer Stammtisch (DAST)” (» German Academic Group Meetings) which started ten years earlier and was linked to the German Academic International Network (GAIN).
Since its inception, the GAST has organized regular virtual and in-person meetings including opportunities to showcase individual projects at well attended “Science Slam” events. The GAST invites its members to meetings and events promoted by key actors of the foreign culture and educational policy stakeholders.
